Turn the World Upside Down!

Acts 17:1-6 says, “Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. The book of Job in a nutshell (a big one).

The book of Job is a fascinating book of the Bible. Well, at least the first two chapters, and the last half of the final chapter, right? Haha. I know, we’re not supposed to admit that any part of the Bible might be boring. But I have had some trouble trudging through the 35 chapters of his “friends” ripping on him and his defense against them. I’ve never really had the stamina to pay attention to all that was actually going on. Can I get an amen?

Quick Thought from Kirk-Influences

This week I had to write a small autobiography for a college class. In this autobiography, I gave respect and admiration to some special people in my life who influenced me to be what I am. As I was doing this, I began to realize how important influences can be to us. A person’s influence on us can direct how we feel about certain things and how we do certain things. A person’s influence on us could determine who we select as our friends and enemies. Also, A person’s influence on us could contribute to or compromise our spiritual beliefs.
