This week I had to write a small autobiography for a college class. In this autobiography, I gave respect and admiration to some special people in my life who influenced me to be what I am. As I was doing this, I began to realize how important influences can be to us. A person’s influence on us can direct how we feel about certain things and how we do certain things. A person’s influence on us could determine who we select as our friends and enemies. Also, A person’s influence on us could contribute to or compromise our spiritual beliefs.
In my autobiography, I gave respect to certain people, who in my life, helped me become what I am. Those people were 1. my parents and 2.my Grandma Kaske. My parents are the reason why I am getting a good education, why I am involved in the church, why I am involved in music, and why I am here. My Grandma Kaske taught me love, patience, standing up for what you believe in, and never giving up. She fought the good fight of faith and pressed on until the end.
I could give credit to many more people who have a positive influence to me. I could mention my entire family, all of my friends, and even mentors individually and how they have been an influence to me. But, in reality, it would take forever and I don’t think you have the time to read all of it.
One thing I want to point out to you is that you will have people who influence you and you will always be an influence to somebody else. Sorry, you can’t change it. But you can determine the influences in your life you want to follow and be like, and you can determine what kind of influence you are to other people.
My main point (remember this): Be influenced to live totally for Jesus and influence others to do the same.
