Quick Thought from Kirk - Why Take “Better” When You Can Have “Best”?

Brain Teasers, Spiritual Thoughts

Better - a word that means “larger, greater, and superior”. The word “better” is practically everywhere you can see and hear. “This product is better than the rest.” “My daddy is better than yours.” “I am better than you.” “Which one is better?” Our whole society is looking for “better”. My question for you is, “Why settle for “better” when you can have the “best”?”

John 2:1-10 says, “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”” (NIV)

Throughout your life, people will try to pressure you to take what is “better”, and that is all fine and dandy. But remember, when it comes down to your soul and your salvation, don’t settle for less than “best”. Living for Jesus just keeps getting better day by day by day.

Remember, Jesus saves the best for last. So if what I feel, when I praise and worship Jesus, is not the best I’m going to feel, I can’t wait to experience the best. Seriously, why settle for “better” when you can have “best”?

That is so awesome that you wrote this Kirk!! I recently preached at the prison about this similar topic. I used this exact phrase, “Why settle for better when you can have the best.” Awesome huh!
